Cookie Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

1. What this policy covers

This Cookie Policy explains how SecondGate (“we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://secondgatewp.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal data.

2. What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember things about your visit, whether you’re logged in, what you’ve viewed, or your preferences, and can also be used to understand how visitors use a site.

3. How we use cookies

We use four categories of cookie on this site. Only the first category is essential; everything else requires your consent, given through the cookie banner shown on your first visit.

Strictly necessary (always active, no consent required)

These cookies are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off.

  • A temporary cookie set on the login page, to check whether your browser accepts cookies. Contains no personal data, discarded when you close your browser.
  • Login and authentication cookies, set when you log in, to keep you signed in. Last two days, or two weeks if you select “Remember Me.”
  • A cookie set when editing or publishing content, containing only a post ID. Expires after one day.

Functional (requires consent)

These improve your experience but aren’t essential.

  • A cookie remembering your name, email, and website if you opt in when leaving a comment, so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. Lasts one year.
  • Screen display and preference cookies, set when logged in. Last one year.

Analytics (requires consent)

  • Google Analytics, used to understand how visitors use this site, pages viewed, time on site, general location. Set by Google, governed by Google’s own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Google Search Console does not set cookies on visitors and is not included in this category, it only shows us aggregated data about search performance.

Third-party (requires consent, set only when relevant)

  • Stripe and PayPal may set their own cookies during checkout, to process your payment securely and detect fraud. These are governed by Stripe’s and PayPal’s own policies, not ours.

4. Managing your cookie preferences

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through the cookie banner shown when you first visit this site, and change your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link in the footer. You can also control or delete cookies directly through your browser’s own settings, though blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most current version.
